Alyssa and Cameron's wedding was pure magic, y'all. This fact will probably not be shocking to their friends and family reading this, because they are both spectacular people, and a true joy to be around. I don't think I saw a single face all day that wasn't smiling from ear to ear!
I started the day hanging with Alyssa and her girls while she got ready at the beautiful home of a family friend. I really enjoyed capturing the fun and joy of that morning between all the girls - between Tony at Black 7 Salon doing hair, and Megan Marks doing makeup, and in the midst of the hustle and bustle that makes up every wedding day, Alyssa was one cool customer. She was so laid back that she actually decided to throw together an impromptu choreographed bridesmaids dance for the reception, as a surprise to the guys. They totally pulled it off, too! Photographing those practice sessions was one of the funniest parts of my day.
Alyssa and Cameron exchanged gifts and notes midway through the morning, and Cameron gave Alyssa some beautiful roses - for her, and to give to their mothers and Mary at the church. Alyssa teared up over that one. <3
When it came time to get Alyssa's dress on, all of the bridesmaids crowded around to see - she hadn't shown ANYONE but her mom and sister her dress! The bridesmaids had all been taking bets on the style of the dress she'd picked earlier in the day, and seeing them all flip out when they saw her all dressed up was SO sweet! They were all so awesomely, genuinely happy for her, and excited to be part of her day.
When it came time to head to the church, not even a little rain on the wedding day could dampen anyone's spirits - Alyssa's dad gallantly chauffeurred her to the church doors under an umbrella and walked her down the aisle like a pro.
And can we talk about the LOOK on Cameron's face when he saw Alyssa? His reaction was everything I ever hope for when I'm photographing a first look between bride and groom. He CRIED, he was so happy! My absolute favorite shot of the day is one of Cameron's face as Alyssa walks down the aisle toward him. She looked at her dad right at that moment, and her mom and sister were all looking on and so happy for her, and YOU GUYS, it was perfect. THEY were perfect. <3
Alyssa and Cameron and their family are very devout in their faith, and it was a pleasure to capture that emotion for them during their Catholic ceremony - you could feel the reverence in the church as they said their vows. Father Eric was so happy to see these two consecrate their union in a church that was so special to them, and he did a wonderful job.
After the vows and mass, we all headed to the reception at Elegant Affairs in Gonzales. And MAN, did Alyssa and Cameron and their whole crew PARTY! We had grandmas dougie-ing (is that a real word? If not, I'm making it one), the AMAZING live band Souled Out, glow sticks, the much-anticipated bridesmaids dance to Proud Mary, and a second line and bubble exit. It was so much fun, I may or may not have done quite a bit of dancing while simultaneously photographing. Who WOULDN'T, right? And the whole reception was so well-organized and well-run by the guys at Elegant Affairs, it was flawless.
I'm so grateful to have such fantastic couples like these two guys. It was a true pleasure to photograph all the magical moments that made up their day. Here are just a few of my favs!
