Okay, so: imagine this. Baton Rouge Birth Photographer meets client. Client says she’s having twins. Client tells photographer they are not telling anyone they’re having twins, and it’s going to be a surprise – even for their daughter. Photographer proceeds to allllmost break out into a spontaneous happy dance at this news.
I could NOT have been any more “in” on this one, you guys. I mean, I always love shooting births, but man, was this cool. If you’re having twins, why not have a blast with it? How often are you ever going to get that opportunity again?
When I met Sarah, she was just instantly one of those people you know you’re going to love to pieces. She just has that presence which is so peaceful (this *may* come in handy, raising twins). Despite Sarah and Kip’s birth story being a little, shall we say, “fast paced”, Sarah was so calm and just overall lovely through it all. Although she shed a few tears, somehow she still seemed so at peace throughout the process.
Birth after a woman’s first child typically happens pretty quickly, but these two little peanuts nearly gave me whiplash, if I’m honest! They had all of the wonderful medical staff on Sarah’s team scrambling into action, with how quickly they made their appearances – but boy, was it a wonderful experience to see them come into the world. Small but mighty, they landed safely in Mom and Dad’s arms just a bare hour and a half after my arrival. And I couldn’t help but giggle at how excited the nurses at Woman’s were to be part of the surprise for big sister Audrianna. That little bit thought she was going home with one baby – only to be surprised with two!
Check out this wonderful little family’s birth story. It’s one of my favs! <3
“I’m at 5cm. We’ve got plenty of time!” *Cue dramatic music*
Poor Sarah labored HARD – but was still the most polite, sweetest person in labor that I’ve ever seen!
Gotta love a sweet, sensitive daddy in waiting!
One down, one more to go!
If this kid didn’t look *just* like her daddy! Sorry, Mom. Maybe in a few years!
A little celebratory cheer. Two beautiful, healthy babies = check!
I loved this heart-felt moment between these two. <3
Four perfect feet!
Dad getting double tagged. 😉
Layla was as-yet un-named at this point! Their nickname game is going to be *on point*, though.
The big reveal!
