Gonzales Louisiana Wedding at First Baptist Church
Well, it looked like it would pour rain all day on Bethany and Josh’s wedding day. But while we got a soggy start to the festivities. The sun came out to shine beautifully for the latter half of the day for these two.
Bethany and Josh were surrounded by friends and family on their wedding day. And I’ve rarely seen a tighter-knit group. Not to mention the fact that their combined family was huge. Bethany is one of eleven children, and Josh one of four! The church was definitely packed with well-wishers, and despite there being so much going on all the time. Everything ran very smoothly.
There were a lot of really sweet moments at this wedding. As well as a ton of funny ones. One of the sweetest was when a cousin of Bethany’s, whom she initially thought would not be able to make the ceremony. Was able to make it after all and surprised her! The look on her face when she saw her cousin was priceless. And seeing Bethany put on her wedding dress. Which was originally her mother’s, was so sweet. There were lots and lots of little touches like that throughout the ceremony and reception that made the day really special for the newlyweds.
The absolute funniest thing at weddings so often times is the kids. This wedding was no exception. It seems like every time I turned around. The kids were doing something hilarious. The flower girl at one point just decided that she absolutely had to see what the underside of a wedding dress looked like. So she stuck her head in the bottom of the dress, which was hanging from the ceiling after just having been steamed.
The ring-bearer was likewise a little comedian. He carried a little box down the aisle with the rings inside. And while he made it onto the stage just fine, he apparently decided he was just bored to tears about halfway through the ceremony. And the box served as a very engrossing distraction. I still crack up looking at their series of photos. Bethany and Josh are committing their lives to one another in front of God and friends and family. And the two littlest members of the wedding party could not possibly be any more bored with the whole affair.
After the vows were said and the first kiss exchanged. Everyone made their way to the reception for some great food and cake {my favorite part, just saying}. You could feel just how loved the couple really was, with them being just swarmed with well-wishers. Bethany did cake-pulls, which I’ve only recently learned are apparently a Louisiana thing (do people elsewhere really not do this?), which led to some laughs amongst the bridesmaids.
At the end of the night, the couple had a traditional exit with confetti being thrown, and all their friends and family lining their path to the getaway car. It was a really sweet and special night to be a part of, and I wish these two all the best! <3
