Baton Rouge Family Photographer | First Haircut | Weston
This kid right here…
He cracked me up, all day. When mom Roxana asked me to photograph Weston’s first haircut and birthday celebration, I was all in, and couldn’t wait to meet this guy. There’s nothing like a bustling family birthday celebration to really bring out the family dynamics, and it was such fun documenting all the love and fun surrounding this much-anticipated little man’s big milestone. I wish I was half as talented with decorating anything as Roxana is – her Christmas themed celebration was so adorable, and I couldn’t stop giggling at Weston’s reaction to the large moving, noise-making Santa Claus (dude was super confused). Some of my favorite images of the day are of Weston showcasing his little personality – he was a really happy baby (and HOLY COW, how cute is this kid? Seriously), but definitely had no qualms about letting his friends and family know when he was less than impressed with the whole haircut/bath scenario.
One of the reasons I enjoy photographing photojournalistically is that I get to really be a part of the family for a little while, and get to know people. From the second I walked into this home, I could feel not just how loved little Weston is, but also how warm and generous and fun the whole family is. Celebrating this day with them was a true privilege.
Check out a few of my favorite images!
Weston getting ready for the big moment!
Wait…what?
Being held by both Daddy and Mommy
First curl. <3
Definitely not so impressed with this scenario now. 😉
Does it make me a horrible person if I think a crying baby is adorable? I mean, let’s be honest – crying only looks cute for so long in a person’s life.
Being comforted amongst the trauma!
Wait, maybe playing with the comb makes the whole process somewhat redeemable.
Snuggles before bath time. <3
Maybe not so crazy about this part, either. It’s fine, there’ll be cake later, kid.
Keep that Santa dude away from me. Maybe. Unless he brings me everything on my list.
Big birthday boy, fascinated with his sparkly candle!
So, when you say, “Can I have some?” how much are we talking, exactly?
Why’s everybody trying to get my cake? I’m having a moment, here.
That’s exactly how I look when people take my cake away, Weston. Exactly.
