Baton Rouge Wedding Photography | Jenna and Ricky
I loved these people. I really can’t think of another way to open this blog post, honestly – so I’m gonna lead with that. When you have absolutely great people who are just completely in love and who adore their family members get married, it’s just magic. Despite being very involved with all of the planning for her wedding, Jenna was the most laid-back bride ever. She was sweet, and bubbly, and patient – and just over-the-moon excited to get married to her best friend in the whole wide world. And Ricky was one of my favorite grooms to date – a true gentleman, and he just couldn’t keep his eyes off of Jenna. He was funny, and playful, and up for anything–all day!
And Jenna’s dad…seriously, dads – the way to a photographer’s heart is to tell her up front that you are going to cry at your daughter’s wedding. He had Kleenexes and hankies stashed absolutely everywhere, it was so sweet. And boy, did he deliver on that crying promise! I chase emotion at weddings hard, so all the emotion in this day made me so, so happy.
The Campbell’s (their hashtag was #TheCampbellsMmMmGood – how cute is that!?) got married at First Baptist Church of Denham, and then we headed over to the Hilton Capitol Center for their reception. The dances were beautiful, the toasts were emotional, and everyone had a great time. We did some gorgeous after-dark portraits on the Mississippi River levee, and Jenna and Ricky had an exit that was a first for me – a paper airplane exit! The couple had all of their guests make paper airplanes to chuck at them at the end of the night (what a great way to give guests an activity to do while you’re taking portraits!). This was a great tribute to Ricky’s service in the Air Force.
Fun fact – Jenna is an actual, real-life Disney princess. One of my absolute favorite portraits of them (or any of my couples, for that matter) is the one where Jenna did her patented-princess-dress-hold move, and Ricky immediately copied her. It was adorable. And then, at the end of the night, I showed Jenna and Ricky a few images I’d put on Instagram throughout the night. Ricky immediately took one look at one of their portraits, fell completely silent for a sec, then looked at Jenna and deadpanned, “You are so out of my league.”
Loved him. These guys were definitely one of my favorite couples to date!
Pre-wedding jitters? Nope, nope, nope…none here. Not at all.
Quick prayer before the I-do’s!
Daddy/daughter first looks are pretty much my favorite.
The cleanest this hankie was all day.
Okay, maybe bride and groom first looks are a tie for my favorite.
There they go! Sweetest thing ever!
I love this. So much love and pride in one hug!
Love family heirlooms incorporated into bouquets. <3
He held it together all speech long! Afterwards…not so much.
