Birth photography is such a wild ride, sometimes. This mama labored with her second child at Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, and holy cow, did she do it fast! One second, I was getting calm, laid back, “We’ve got plenty of time” texts. And then what seemed like the very next, texts turned–shall we say–a tad more frantic. 😉 A mere three pushes after my arrival, Baby Brady made his grand entrance!
Birth photography was really important to this mama, since she’d had a difficult birth with her first. And hadn’t felt like she was able to fully appreciate it at the time. The really wonderful thing about having a birth photographer is that you can just concentrate on the process of birth and bonding with your family and baby, while someone else creates the lasting physical memories for you. Much of the time, parents don’t even remember a lot of what went on during labor and delivery, given that there are so many emotions (and, let’s be honest–hormones) present. That’s where birth images come in – you get to not just relive the process through the photographs, but also notice things that you may not have been aware of at the time, even. I loved how wrapped up both Mom and Dad were in their little boy – the looks on their faces are priceless captures.
AND, how funny is it that Mom had to fix her hair right after birth? She wanted to look her best for visitors, and Dad was happy to supply a “mirror” for her…even though he had a tough time taking his eyes off of his boy to do it! That’s parenthood in a nutshell, right there. Multi-tasking. 😉
Here are a few of my favorite images from Baby Brady’s birth!
Texting family that she FINALLY got her “easy” birth this time around!
One push! She was close, at least – it only took three!
The last belly shot!
They did it – they really did it!
