What are the ingredients of a perfect wedding day? It’s kind of a trick question, really, because there’s only one that’s really important, in the end–people. You can have all of the perfect decorations, and flowers, and clothes, and music; but what really makes the memories of a wedding day magical are the people who take part in it with you.
This was a magical people day, friends. The sky could have fallen, and the barn Kim and Jennifer got married in could have collapsed around them, and it still would have been the best day of their lives–because they got married to their best friends, and all of the most wonderful people in their lives were surrounding them as they did so.
I always love my job, but let me tell you – it’s a special kind of magic when I get to be part of a day like this one. It was funny, and emotional, and surprising, and quirky, and beautiful, and unique, and pretty much every other adjective that means awesome, really.
I loved Kim and Jen from the second I met them – they’re my people. We became fast friends at their engagement session, and I just knew their wedding was going to be a party – and holy cow, was it! They had themed clothing (Team Purple! Team Blue!), dresses with pockets (WITH POCKETS!), photo-bombing horses, and just when I thought the night couldn’t get more fun, Jen busted out in a T-Rex costume at the reception. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?
Okay, I’m all out of adjectives on this one, folks. I almost had an aneurysm, trying to pick favorite photos to blog, but here’s my best effort! Strap in!
Jen’s daughter was, shall we say, enamored of the walkie-talkies procured for the day. 😉
When you realize that your team shirt is spelled wrong. What’s a Sqad, exactly?
Bride Sqad!
Apparently hair and makeup is a very special occasion, necessitating lots of pictures.
Loved these moments between mom and daughter. <3
There may or may not have been spit involved in this scenario. I’ll never tell.
Jen’s daughter was the ring bearer. LOVE THAT!
Too freaking cute. <3

What men do while the women get ready.
There was wine to be had, and had it was!
Also what men do when women fuss and primp.
Time to get dat dress on!
The benefits to getting married on the family land – no garden need go unattended for any length of time, and there’s transportation via go-kart!
Favorite signs in the history of signs
One of the funniest things ever – Kim and Jen rode in the same limo to the ceremony site, but didn’t want to see each other beforehand. A blanket was held up to block Kim from Jen’s view, but they remained in constant contact via walkie talkie the whole time.
Rock, paper, scissors…priorities!
A police escort. Because they know a guy…and also because it was fun.
Mother/daughter dance. <3
